ABOUT THE CAMP
Serene Surroundings The ACT-Wilf Churchman Camp for kids will be held at Hitchcock's Hideaway, situated along the shores of Lake Diefenbaker. Nestled inside one of Saskatchewan's finest parkland sites, this picturesque meeting place is located 2 hours S.W. of Saskatoon & 2 1/2 hours N.W. of Regina. Medical Care "Around the Clock" care is provided by the Discovery Asthma Camp. Registered nurses, physical therapists, a respiratory therapist, a dietitian, a pharmacist, and a physician are present 24 hours a day. Some of these health professionals from the University of Saskatchewan, major hospitals and the health care field have volunteered their time for Camp. Our Camp Medical Advisor, a pediatric specialist in asthma, provides supervision and backup support The quality of the medical component of the Camp has been recognized by the health care community nationally and internationally. The Camp is an accredited part of the training program for various Health Science departments at the University of Saskatchewan. Parents of previous campers have commended us for the level of care their children have received. Activities
Counsellors The Discovery Asthma Camp provides a fully trained group of counsellors chosen for their leadership and personality qualities. Sports, crafts and special activities staff are also provided to assure that the children enjoy their Summer Camp to the fullest. Educational sessions on the nature of asthma, the proper use of medication, and how to manage and control asthma are conducted by the Medical Staff.
